Matthew Wallace, Director and Consultant (BSc BEng(Chem) FSEng MIEAust)

Matthew is a degree-qualified chemical engineer with extensive experience in safety engineering and risk management across a number of major hazard industries including mining, oil and gas, power generation, petrochemical and chemical processing.

With over 10 years of practical and dedicated experience in major hazard risk engineering, Matthew has previously held Principal-level consulting positions with both Australian and International companies, including management and team-leader roles.

Matthew is also a certified Functional Safety Engineer specialising in Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments and performance analysis of Safety Instrumented Systems (SISs). He has completed SIL studies for a range of operations including refineries, bulk terminals, gas plants and power stations.

Matthew has a sound working knowledge of a number of risk analysis techniques including Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Hazard and Operability studies (HAZOPs), Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) and Bow-Tie Analysis. Matthew also has experience in conducting inspections of Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) and preparing EEHA verification dossiers against relevant Australian Standards.

Matthew has been involved in Safety Case / Report preparation and updates for Major Hazard Facilities (MHFs) in Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and New South Wales and also has experience with offshore Safety Cases per NOPSA regulations.
